Shivalik Institute of Nursing is a very popular college in the state of Himachal Pradesh. It is established and managed by the Shivalik Educational Welfare Society Shivalik Institute of Nursing is located at centre of sub urban area at Kamla Nagar commonly known as Bhatta Kuffer towards South East of Shimla and only about 2 Km away from Sanjauli Dhalli -Tunnel, on bye pass road.

The institute became functional in the year 2009 with admission of 50 students to the four year B.Sc. Nursing degree course and 40 students in 3 / 1/2years General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) diploma course. Later the GNM programme has been reduced to 3years duration from 2015 onwards by Indian Nursing Council. The management tirelessly endeavouring to improve the standard of education and upgrade infrastructure.

We have been successful in enhancing the seats in the B.Sc. Nursing programme from 50 seats to 60 seats from 2011 onward. Management also succeeded to start M.Sc. Nursing courses in three nursing specialities from academic session 2017-18 and 2 year Post Basic BSc. (N) degree course with intake of 20 seats from the session 2018, after obtaining necessary approvals from state government, suitability from Indian Nursing Council (central regulatory body for nursing courses) Himachal Pradesh Nurses Registration Council (state regulatory body) and affiliation from Atal Medical & Research University.

Admission to the degree courses are done on the basis of the combined entrance test conducted by the Atal Medical & Research University of Medical stream only. Whereas GNM Admission in any stream is done on the basis of merit of 10+2 qualifying examination. GNM Admission conducted by the DME, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh as per laid down procedure.

The institute has well-qualified and experienced faculty, smart classrooms with multi-media projectors, a well-stocked library, well-equipped laboratories, a spacious auditorium and hostel accommodation for all the students as per norms of Indian Nursing council.

This institute is one of the first nursing colleges approved to be set up in the private sector by the state government of Himachal Pradesh. Shivalik institute is the only private nursing institute attached for clinical training to the Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla, Kamla Nehru Hospital a part & parcel of IGMC which is the oldest medical college of the state equipped with all kind of facilities for higher education in the medical stream Hospital. The pass-outs students from this institute are working in prestigious government and private hospitals across the country. The institute has well-qualified and experienced faculty smart classrooms with multi-media projectors, a well-stocked library, well-equipped laboratories, a spacious auditorium and hostel accommodation.

Shivalik Educational Welfare Society is in position to extend education in other fields such as Veterinary Sciences by establishing para veterinary Science and animal husbandry institution and to train youths in the direction to enable them to find employment opportunities or to set up their private entrepreneurs. The Veterinary Pharmacist Training Courses has been affiliated with the CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur for the conduction of two time's annual examination during the period of 2-years of training. At Shivalik Institute of Veterinary Pharmacist, there is hostel facility available to accommodate for students separately for female & male students.
