Nursing Education

General Nursing & Midwifery Programme (3 years)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
  • The candidate for above training must have passed 10+2 class preferably Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) & English with aggregate 40 % marks from a recognized Board of School Education or its equivalent Board.
  • 10+2 in Arts/commerce (Mathematics, Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy) and English Core/English Elective or Health Care Science – Vocational stream only, passing out from recognized Board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board with 40% marks.
  • 10+2 Arts or Science examination or Health Care Science – Vocational stream only conducted by National Institute of Open School with 40% marks.
  • For SC/ST candidates, there will be relaxation of 5 % marks.
  • The age of candidates should be 17 years (as on 31st of admission year). However, no upper age limit shall be applicable.
  • Note: The selection of the candidates is purely on merit basis of qualifying examination i.e. 10+2 preferably with science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) and there is no provision/quota kept for in-service/direct FHW/ANM candidates for doing the GNM training course.

M.Sc. Nursing (2 Years)

Intake of 15 seats (5 seats each in Med-Surgical nursing, Community Health Nursing and Paediatric nursing).

ELIGIBILITY, EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER CONDITIONS.
  • Admission to M.Sc. Nursing Degree course shall be made on the basis of merit of the Entrance Test to be conducted by the AMRU for which female candidates are eligible subject to fulfillment of the following conditions :-
  • The candidates should be registered as registered Nurse/Midwife (RN/RM) B.Sc./Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with H.P State Nurses registration council Shimla/ any State Nursing Registration council at the time of admission.
  • The candidates should be B.Sc. Nursing /Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing /B.Sc. Hons. Nursing trained from the recognized Institutions not less than 55% aggregate marks.
  • Minimum one year of work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and after B.Sc. Nursing from the date of registration. A certificate of work experience will be required to be uploaded at the time of application for M.Sc. Nursing course. The admission to the M.Sc. Nursing Degree Course shall be on the basis of merit of Entrance Test to be conducted by the Atal Medical and Research University, HP, at Nerchowk, Distt. Mandi, HP.

Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (2 Years)

Eligibility, Educational Qualifications and other Conditions for Admission
  • Admission to Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing Degree course shall be made on the basis of merit of the Entrance Test to be conducted by the AMRU for which the female candidates only are eligible subject to fulfilment of the following conditions :-
  • The candidates should be registered as registered Nurse/Midwife (RN/RM) with H.P. State Nurses Registration Council, Shimla at the time of admission. However, the Himachali Bonafide Candidates who completed their GNM Diploma outside the State and registered themselves in the concerned State Registration Nursing Council shall be registered with the HPNRC, Shimla within 2 months from the date of admission. Provided further that the candidates belonging to another states of the country should be registered in their respective State Nurses Registration Council and at the time of admission they must produce NOC for pursuing their higher studies outside the state from the Registrar of the concerned State Registration Council.
  • The candidate must have passed 10+2 and its equivalent examination from recognized Board/University established by Law in India with minimum 40% aggregate marks. For SC/ST/OBC candidates the required percentage of aggregate marks will be 35%.
  • The candidate must have obtained 50% marks in General Nursing & Midwifery from the School/Institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council/Himachal Pradesh Nurses Registration Council.

(Basic) B.Sc. Nursing (4 Years)

Eligibility, Educational Qualifications and other Conditions for Admission
  • Bonafide Himachali Female Candidates/ Children of Bonafide Himachali/ Himachal Govt. employees/ employees of Autonomous bodies wholly or partially financed by the Himachal Pradesh Government only will be eligible to apply for admission to 4 years B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course (State Quota) through Entrance Test to be conducted by Atal Medical and Research University, HP, Ner Chowk, Distt. Mandi, HP.
  • For filling up of 50% Management Quota Seats in Private un-aided B.Sc. Nursing Colleges in State of Himachal Pradesh, there will be no requirement of being Himachali Bonafide. Under this quota all Indian citizens, both Himachali and Non- Himachali interested candidates can compete in the entrance test subject to fulfilment of minimum educational qualifications and age criteria.
  • As per INC notification no 11 of 2023 f. No 1-6/LT/2023-INC dated 21 August 2023 there is no maximum/upper age limit for the admission to B.Sc. (N) programmes. However, candidates must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December 2025, which means they must be born before 01.01.2009. Age as recorded in the matriculation certificate will be entertained.
  • Admission to married candidates will be allowed subject to production of medical fitness certificate and candidate can only appear in final examination after 80 % attendance in theory and 100% in practical.
  • The candidate should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination from H.P. Board of School Education/AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or any other Board/University established by law in India in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and with 45% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination. The candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination will be 40% instead of 45% as stated above. Provided further that English is a compulsory subject in 10+2 for being eligible for admission to B.Sc. (Nursing) course. The candidate should be medically fit.
  • The candidates who appeared in 10+2 examination and their result are not yet declared may also apply for this test, but their admission will be made, if they fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria as prescribed in the time of 1st round of counselling.
Nursing Education
Note:-
  • The candidates who have passed their 10+2 examination from National Institute of Open School or appeared in 10+2 examination Science (Medical) conducted by National Institute of Open School can also apply to this test.
  • The above qualifications will only determine the eligibility of a candidate for admission, but the actual basis of admission shall be the marks obtained by the candidate(s) in the Entrance Test.
  • In the case of candidates having passed their 10+2 examination other than H.P. Board of School Education, Dharamshala/CBSE/ICSE, equivalence certificate issued by the H.P. Board of School Education, Dharamshala is required to be submitted at the time of counselling/admission by the candidates concerned.
